The Top 4 Reasons Why You (Probably) Don't Have a Will
For those who like to watch;
For those who like to read;
Ever have that nagging feeling like you've not done something? Like, you know, that important thing you keep pushing down your to-dos?
You guessed it: making your Will.
Let's be honest, we all know we should have a Will. It's like flossing your teeth – you know it's good for you, but it's not exactly taking top spot on your 'fun' list.
But here's the thing: a Will isn't just for people with mansions and million pound antiques in the garage - although, hey, if you have those, good on you.
It's about making things easier for your loved ones when you're gone, and also that lovely, warm feeling you'll get from putting yours in place.
But the truth is: stats tell us that most people don't have a will.
Shocking, right?
So, why the disconnect?
Let's bust some myths!
Here are the usual suspects - in no particular order:
Number 1 - "I'm young and don't have much to leave" – Age is irrelevant! Life's unpredictable, and even small things can make a big difference for your loved ones.
Number 2 - "It's expensive and complicated" – Not true! In most cases, cost is dependant on the complexity of the Will you put in place, and trust me, the cost of not having a will can be much, much higher - both financially and emotionally.
Number 3 - "Talking about death scares me - let's just not talk about it. Ever" - I totally get it. But avoiding it can be disastarous and honestly, it's a more uplifting process than you'd imagine - oh, the document signing parties that I've been too
And Lastly - "I don't know what happens if I don't have one" – Imagine a badly planned family holiday, but instead of forgetting to organise an airport transfer, you've passed away and no one knows what you wanted to happen.
Perhaps some of those apply to your current thinking?
